The Guidance Department provides academic and career guidance and social support for students and families in a faith-filled environment: course scheduling, grade and attendance monitoring, school/home relationships and collaboration with outside agencies.

Most NCC students matriculate directly to college upon graduation. The Guidance Office arranges on-campus visits by many universities, provides assistance with college selection, transcripts and scholarship opportunities.

Counselors and faculty work with families and local public school districts to develop plans for students who quality for special services.

Academic Counseling

The counseling staff works with students to develop a four-year plan that meets their educational goals and helps them develop into whom God is calling them to be. The Counselor also facilitates communication between students, parents and teachers as needed. College/Career Guidance – Nouvel strives to assist students in making informed choices based on career interests and individual aptitudes and abilities. Considerations in college and vocational school selection include cost, size and location, availability of financial aid, and specific course offerings. A reference library is maintained with up-to-date information on colleges and career opportunities.

Personal Counseling

The scope of personal counseling encompasses all areas of the student's life including family, friends, teachers and coursework issues. It is difficult for students with serious personal concerns to achieve their full potential. Close contact with outside agencies is maintained to assist those in need of in-depth or specialized services.

Traditionally, 99 percent of Nouvel graduates enroll directly into college or university upon graduation. As college tuition costs continue to increase, students are encouraged to take advantage of all scholarship opportunities available. The Guidance Department maintains an up-to-date scholarship listing and helps students capitalize on scholarship dollars available.

The Class of 2017 was awarded more than $5 million in college scholarships.

In addition to scholarship opportunities that come through the guidance office, a number of free websites allow students and parents to register to receive free information about scholarships and activate a college search.

The Counseling Department suggests students do not pay for scholarship lists. To register for free scholarship listings, follow the links provided below or visit the Guidance Office.
